You have incredible talent Jackie. I felt as though I were walking on that beach with you (and I could use it). Like you, I wouldn’t condemn the chances of a relationship simply because it seemed from the start it was going to be troublesome. Afterall, life is boring without taking risks.
I have a beautiful daughter thanks to a risk I took on a girl. I haven’t seen that woman in over a year, and hadn’t dated her since my daughter was 2 months old. But I have my daughter and she is a reminder that good things come from unexpected places.
Taking the easy path or the safe choice leaves us with little or nothing to show, few memories to cherish, few adventures to look back on. It seems you have quite a bit of each.

If we don’t take the road less traveled, we might think, in later years, that there was gold at the end, instead of the reason it was less traveled. Might as well check it out, to reduce later regrets. Or, perhaps there’s gold.
