A devoted fan of the movie The Last Starfighter has created a video game based on the movie. This nostalgic homage to the movie is a great way to pass time.
If you're of the right age—or just the right amount of cool—the setup for The Last Starfighter will trigger a pleasant hit of nostalgia: A coin-op videogame served as a recruitment tool for an interstellar defense force. If you were good enough. Now that game from inside the movie is playable … right on your PC.
"Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada …" Those are the words that greet Alex Rogan every time he ponies up to the Last Starfighter game, and now they can greet you, too, thanks to a band of code jockeys called Rogue Synapse, who've made a pitch-perfect playable version of the very game from within the movie.
The graphics are still simple like they were in the movie so don’t look for any 3D surprises or fancy PS3 graphics here. This is only for those who feel like taking a space trek down memory lane. Also, if you have a Mac saving the universe from intergalactic warlords is not possible, as the free download is only for PC.
