The Advancement of Women in Sports and Entertainment Scholarship has been created to try and address the issue of the underrepresentation of women in these sectors by providing $1,000 to eight applicants to help fund their education.
3. Women in Film Scholarship
This is a more difficult scholarship to obtain because it is not provided to recipients in the traditional form. Instead, the Women in Film Scholarship is provided by the Women in Film organization that is determined to bring more female film and TV makers into the industry. The Women in Film Scholarship is not applied for but is distributed following an application process that is completed by professors and teachers at Film and TV schools around Southern California. The Women in Film Scholarship is handed out to worthy recipients who have shown dedication to their educators and remained positive in the face of adversity.
4. Kodak Student Scholarships
There are many different ways of looking at the application process for scholarships, including the ability of a creative student to get their work seen by industry professionals. The Kodak Student Scholarships program includes reviews of applications by industry professionals who can provide feedback on their work. The awards provided by the Kodak Student Scholarships program are provided on a sliding scale that provides awards of $2,000 up to $4,000.
This is an impressive award to apply for because the work submitted can be creative samples, academic performance grades, and the potential of the candidate to improve their filmmaking.
5. George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon B. Johnson Scholarship
There are many ways of breaking into the entertainment industry beyond the traditional forms of acting, filmmaking, and music. The George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon B. Johnson Scholarship is awarded to a student who is showing excellence in their study of journalism. This scholarship is available to students with a prize of $6,000 on offer and the chance to participate in the Excellence in Journalism Conference. Unlike many other scholarships, a student does not need to major in journalism to apply for the award but should show excellence in journalistic practices. The scholarship is open to all forms of journalism from television to print, digital journalism, and radio.
6. House of Blues Music Forward Affinity Plus Scholarship
This scholarship is focused on the state of Minnesota, where applicants must be studying or studying out of state and be an Affinity Plus member. The House of Blues Music Forward Affinity Plus Scholarship is awarded to two students who are studying for a career in any aspect of the music industry. Unlike many scholarships, the House of Blues fronted scholarship is available to those who are looking to take part in behind-the-scenes operations, including live entertainment management or the hospitality industry.
7. NBC Universal Scholarship
The NBC Universal Scholarship is focused on assisting the underrepresented Latino community to increase its representation in the entertainment industry. For many, the issues of how to bring more Latino personalities to the front of the camera and behind the camera sectors of the media have been addressed and discussed for many years. The NBC Universal Scholarship is a large one with ten $5,000 scholarships on offer each year for undergraduate Latino students looking to forge a career in entertainment and media.
8. Walt Disney Imaginations Design Competition Project Challenge
This is a competition come scholarship program that is designed by the Walt Disney Corporation to provide funding for college to the winning teams and assist with developing local communities. The application process for the award includes forming a team from your fellow college students and creating a better artistic installation that is inspiring to the local community. The work being done by different teams should push design skills to the limit and make it easier for members of your community to enjoy their lives in and around your local area.
