A conservationist Republican known for doing his best to cross aisles while sticking to his principles, Zinke has come a long way since taking the reins at the department – but not necessarily in a good way. Nine out of 12 sitting members of the Interior’s National Park System Advisory Board resigned Monday in protest of Zinke’s refusal to meet with them. According to The Washington Post, Zinke couldn’t even be bothered to convene the group once last year, preferring instead to open up offshore drilling, shrink the size of national monuments and disband advisory boards on climate change. Public perception of the Interior Dept. has suffered online as a result: It pulls 66 percent negatives on 30dB. –Hugo Guzman
