Here birdsong fills the balmy air and all around the green is punctuated with the vibrant colours of the early flowerers.
Amongst these the gorse is foremost. The acid yellow flowers clothe the flanks of the mountain and its sweet coconut fragrance perfumes the ecology with sweet and exotic scents.
There is a palpable livingness to everything, a shimmering vivacity that cannot be contained by seed and soil.
