Dear President Obama,
There is an old saying that goes “You never miss your water until your well runs dry.” There can be no better example of that than this current time in the history of the United States. Nothing compels anyone to write a letter than to see what you are missing and you mourn for its return, regardless of how impossible that return is.
I must say thank you to Barack Obama. I miss you as our leader. It has everything to do with who you are as a person, not as a black man but a person, a citizen of the United States and a member of the human race. You were truly an amazing servant who did not take his position as the most powerful leader in the world for granted or take it lightly. You served, not out of arrogance, but out of a desire to make the world better for all of us, not just a few.
You were a role model that any child could look up to and say “I want to be like him!” Here are the qualities that even children can recognize and that I miss so deeply:
1- Integrity
You spoke softly, carefully and unwaveringly with a deliberateness that showed you are a thinking man who carefully weighs what he says and how he says it because what you say has consequences.
2 -Transparency
Given that you are an African-American, I have no doubt that many people, politicians and the ordinary citizen, spent countless hours trying to uncover something that would be detrimental to your character. You remain untarnished.
3 – Truthfulness
When I listened to you, I knew you were telling the truth. There may have been national security issues that you couldn’t discuss, but I trusted that what you were able to share with the American people was the truth, not some made up message from the Netherworld in the middle of the night. You knew that just as the “truth shall set you free,” lies will eventually bring you to your knees.
4 – Humor
You really must have been a comedian in another life. Your delivery and timing are remarkable. That’s rare. And if you were at the end of a joke, you knew how to laugh it off, not get defensive and ruffled.
5 – Respect
You had the respect of people around the globe. There were leaders who openly tried to scoff at who you were, Putin of Russia and the president of the Philippines were the example, but others looked up to you and depended on you because of who you were.
6 – Leadership
You were an example of how to lead with thoughtfulness, compassion, and decisiveness. After all, you captured Bin Laden and you continued to deliver heavy blows to ISIS. You knew how to listen to dissenting opinions with an openness to change, but also holding onto your beliefs if you ultimately believed you were right.
All of these qualities require confidence, maturity, and the ability examine your position many times, on many levels and from many angles. These extraordinary qualities made you an extraordinary leader and an extraordinary man. We were so privileged to have you as President and comparisons only make your absence that much more poignant.
Mr. President, thank you and you are missed more than you can know.

I agree with you and miss Obie ????.( with all due respect)
I do too 🙂
I miss Obama so much and your list here is spot on. Whenever I hear someone say “The President” without Trump’s name in there, I always think it’s about Obama. I have not, nor will I, ever refer to Trump as President T…… Nope. I’ve always loved Obama and trusted him more than I trust some of my friends and family. Trump is such an insult. It never ceased to amaze me how so many countries and their leaders had a great amount of respect for Obama, but the haters in the US just refused to see that. I often… Read more »
