Do you believe in the Law of Attraction?
Whether or not you believe in it, you absolutely MUST believe the underlying Universal Law behind it. And that’s the Law of Cause and Effect.
The Universal Law of Cause and Effect states that nothing “just happens.” Nothing is an accident, and everything happens for a reason.
If you’re a regular reader of the Good Men Project, then you’re very likely trying to build the life of your dreams. And if you’re reading this article, I’d wager you’re probably not quite there yet.
But that’s okay, because this article is for you. Here’s how to use the Law of Cause and Effect to build the life you’ve always wanted … with less time, less money, and less effort.
Step #1: Stop Relying on “Luck”
First, understand and accept the truth that the life you’re living right now is the direct effect of your thoughts, beliefs, values, decisions, actions, and habits over the last several years.
It’s not good luck or bad luck that got you where you are. It’s all on you. I’m not saying it’s your fault, but I AM saying it’s your responsibility. You’re in control. Can you accept that?
Step #2: Know What You Want
Now take a few moments to imagine the life of your dreams.
As in right now. Take a few minutes and visualize it. Then after you’re done, get a sheet of paper and pen.
Describe the life of your dreams in vivid detail. Here are a few examples to help you out:
• I’ll own a 5-bedroom house in a gated community
• I’ll own a Bentley
• I’ll make six figures
Step #3: Know What You’re Missing
After you’ve described the life of your dreams on paper, compare it to your life right now. What are the areas of disconnect?
Using the example in Step #2, areas of disconnect may include:
• I live in a 2-bedroom rented apartment
• I don’t own a car
• I’m $65,000 away from earning six figures
Go ahead – find your own personal areas of disconnect. Write them down. Make them clear to you.
Step #4: Find Out Why You’re Missing Them
If you’ll look around, you’ll see people who are living the life of your dreams. They’ve done it. They’ve made it. Why not you?
Was it because you made bad decisions in your life? Or maybe you have certain bad habits/beliefs that’s keeping you from performing at your best? Or maybe you’re tied down by unhealthy relationships?
Take your best guesses, and write them ALL down. The more reasons you end up with, the better.
Step #5: Mark the Things You Can’t Change
This step requires pure, brutal honesty.
You’ve listed down the decisions, habits, beliefs, and relationships that are keeping you from designing the life of your dreams.
Now mark the ones you absolutely can’t change. They may be:
• Bad decisions you can’t change anymore
• Habits caused by incurable physical disability
• Beliefs that form the foundation of your worldview
• Relationships you absolutely must keep
Step #6: Mark the Things You CAN Change
After marking the things you can’t change, you’re left with the things you CAN change. And these are the areas where the Law of Cause and Effect can come into play.
Step #7: Take Massive Action
Make the decision to change the things you can change in your life. You now know what’s wrong – now it’s time to fix things.
Designing the life of your dreams will take time. It’ll probably take you years. Only this time, you know that achieving your life goals isn’t a matter of luck, but a simple matter of Cause and Effect.
And now that you’re putting the right “causes” into play, reaping the right “effect”—the life of your dreams—is just a matter of time.
