Just in case you were wondering, yes, the “cool” pope is still really grossed out by queers.

“As for proposals to place unions between homosexual persons on the same level as marriage, there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family,” wrote the pope this week in a statement (that was probably really written by underlings and then signed by him).
“No union that is temporary or closed to the transmission of life can ensure the future of society,” the pope (or whoever) went on.
It’s a disappointing but not surprising stand for the pope to take, as the pope has repeatedly stood in opposition to LGBT equality in the past.

Also, abortions are still bad, ladies. “So inalienable the right to life of an innocent child growing in the mother’s womb, that no alleged right to one’s own body can justify a decision to terminate that life,” he said. Sorry, that jiggling cluster of cells in you is an “innocent child.”
The church’s ban on contraception remains in place, because of course it does.

But there’s also good news for straight people — divorce is bad, but we shouldn’t treat divorced people badly, he wrote. Well, isn’t that kind.
It’s a disappointing but not surprising stand for the pope to take, as the pope has repeatedly stood in opposition to LGBT equality in the past.
But he still has at least one friend eager to stand by him: Bernie Sanders, who will travel to the Vatican next week to delivery a speech on social justice. Hey, Bernie, maybe throw in a few words about equality?

Other than professing knowing God’s plan, lol at that one, is that if you believe we’re all God’s children, which catholics certainly does, as I is one, then all same sex couples are God’s children as well. I see no rational reason to say the opposite. This makes absolutely no sense to me. DJ please have your dog order me one too with the extra cheese and extra pepperoni 🙂
Let’s not forget the commandment of the big 10. Honor your father and your mother. Honor man and women, husband and wife. It’s their beliefs and no one has he right to change their beliefs. If you believe it’s okay to try, they go the belief system that still murders gays.
Condemn and not accept/recognize are two different things.
Why is this a surprise? He’s the head of the CATHOLIC CHURCH. They believe that procreation is the highest duty of every human being and that the purpose of sex is procreation.
As if he knows God’s plan on the first place.seriously? And you are right dj Thanks.
it really does stun me, Mark, when man attempts to define God’s word, or God himself (or itself).
For me it is akin to asking my dog to dial up and order a pizza with extra cheese. We simply do not have the capacity in either mental acuity or ability to reach beyond our own personal bias, but we do it constantly. Guys in pointy hats…
Good point.
…which is why I believe in a higher power, but not religion. None of this is new. None of it has changed. The proclivities of man defined as “God’s word”. We must remember that even the bible was written by men, and men (well, women for that matter) have bias. We can see that with the treatment of the less favored from time beginning. We can see it in the depiction of Mary Magdalene as the whore when she was actually, when we examine the facts without past male bias, his chief executive officer and confidant. We can also see… Read more »
Or … how about expanding on “34,000 Black churches break away from Presbyterian church over same sex marriage”
So when am I going to see ” MUSLIM LEADERS Condemns Same-Sex Couples As Not Part Of God’s Plan” (Continue to murder gays)
*crickets*
Tom
You don’t need to be gay , it is enough to be a woman accused of infidelity (having a fling). Death penalty for things like that….
Some imams in Denmark preach this from the mosques.
No Tom, GMP is not the place we will find articles that debate Islam critically .
Sadly, I have to agree with you. Various responses to many articles have included their asking that such articles be written and they fall on deaf ears. I suspect that if such articles were written, it would be viewed as Islamophobic which is completely different from “christianophobia?”
