Why do conservatives and Republicans get to be the domineering voice of “whatever we say or believe today” is not only correct and acceptable, but gospel for the ages, even when it’s wrong, unethical, unpresidential, and scientifically inaccurate?
Is this how you bully your way to power, with a smile and a mouth full of lies and hypocrisy?
Whether it’s climate change, nationalism, unsecured use of phones by a President, civilian murder in Yemen, or disparaging America to the public (and other countries), there seems to be a louder monopoly of hypocrisy, contradiction, and bully-headed slogans of the voices of the (R)ight.
It’s been a theme for years now, unless I’ve wrongly observed everything about books, television, radio, the internet, and basic observation.
Is this the same bullish monopoly as regular conservatives, or a disease of those who are always on television and/or running for their seats in districts where their base just wants to hear the same old, tired nonsense?
Do Democrats and liberals suffer the same fates?
“LOCK HER UP!!!” said the voices of those who have now, tail between their legs, left the administration and are dealing with White House and NSA and Intelligence Agency leaks.
I don’t like POW soldiers who get caught, said a one-time (R) candidate who is now commander-in-chief. And yet, that POW veteran, now supports every cabinet pick in lock-step with his party.
Party over country!!! votes the (R) Congress, the party of the “Country First” campaign of 2008.
And the list goes on.
The sad, dark, arrogant, tone-deaf, unwilling-to-compromise list goes on.
If Democrats and liberals acted like this, would the hyper-masculine and hyper-partisan voices of the right lambaste them as weak, girly, snowflakey libtards, or maturely admit that they are not always consistent in their vocal opposition to Democratic leadership.
The magic (R) is nothing but a weak, throwback symbol to the hyper and toxic masculinity of the last century, and the time of the (R) is up.
One can hope.
Take a look.
In his editorial New Rule, Bill Maher wonders why Republicans have “Patriotic Immunity” and disputes the notion that they inherently love America more than Democrats.

The dems rigged the election so that Bernie couldn’t win.
Was there even ONE article on this site bemoaning that fact? If so, I must have missed it.
Sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind, as the saying goes.
So I have no sympathy at all – zero sympathy – for the beating that the left is taking and will continue to take. Let our side straighten up, and kick our slimy crooked people out of the party. Then we have some sort of moral imperative (maybe) to shame and condemn the other side.
Talking about a pass. If the RNC rigged the election so that Trump would win and a hypothetical Ben Carson as the second place candidate would lose, how many accusations of racism would there be? When liberals rig an election so the Jewish candidate doesn’t win, no questions of antisemitism.
Most of the comments below reflect how I feel as well. I could easily come up with a number of left leaning that have and continue to get passes. And when I say “passes,” I mean that they get little to no main stream media coverage. Which brings me to the fact that someone leaning toward the right can’t forget to change his/her undies without the main stream attacking them.
There are passes and there are passes. Katie Rich got a pass because had a conservative or Republican attacked an 11 year old, “progressives” wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less than their losing their job. Interesting how her “suspension” was “indefinite” because of course they need to make sure no one is looking anymore when they reward her for her efforts.
And what about Bill Clinton? I didn’t hear anything from the left when a few women accused Bill of molesting and raping them! To this day the majority of the Democrats still defend Bill.
Worse was when I witnessed ole Bill, on national TV, proclaim that he feels sorry for Mrs. Trump. I can’t even call that a progressive stance. It transcended that to pure dysfunction and seems to use the progressive label to legitimize the dysfunction as a political stance rather then a personal problem. The man got a BJ in the oval office, and it was played like a soap opera in-front of the entire nation, and he feels sorry for Mrs. Trump? “I did not have sex with that woman” “I did, but I didn’t inhale” See what you want. Say… Read more »
Why do conservatives and Republicans get to be the domineering voice of “whatever we say or believe today” is not only correct and acceptable, but gospel for the ages, even when it’s wrong, unethical, unpresidential, and scientifically inaccurate? I suspect it’s a bit like how various movements on the left have claimed to the be voice of reason on gender (e.g. you must be a feminist) or race (e.g. you must support BLM). And if you want to talk about hypocrisy and bullish sloganeering, cf. the above movements as well. If Democrats and liberals acted like this, would the hyper-masculine… Read more »
I’m sorry, but are you honestly trying to suggest that Republicans are the only ones who let “people on the same team” get away with things that they would call out from those on the opposition?
If so, I would suggest you have some major blind spots you need to deal with before continuing this discussion.
“unless I’ve wrongly observed everything ” No you’ve only wrongly observed half of everything. You’re mind just ignores or discards every instance of “your camp” engaging in it. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/02/14/melania-trump-thanks-emily-ratajkowski-for-defending-her-against-reprimanded-ny-times-reporter.html Of course they were all about punishing other people for “locker room talk”. And then there’s this fake news. http://people.com/politics/what-really-happened-during-tiffany-trumps-nyfw-snub-according-to-the-fashion-writer-who-tweeted-the-photos/ Of course the seats remained vacant for 2 minutes. Her response. “Binkley says that if she had known that her tweets would gain traction after posting, she would have followed up sooner on what happened after the show.” meaning if I knew I’d get caught so quickly, I’d have fessed up… Read more »
Milo is not part of the alr rignt, and if they do get a pass, look at obama
Milo IS the alt-right, and I’ve been looking at Obama–that’s why I wrote this!
Then you know that the left certainly got/get a lot of passes.
The thesis from right, “politically correct,” and also right, “politically conservative,” is that Republican are also right in their political shenanigans because some one or more Democrats pulled some shenanigans. That means the Republican basic rule of ethics is that Democrats set the higher standards and it is permissible for Republicans to keep occupying the lower ethical register.
