Pests such as mosquitoes and flies carry diseases that may pose health risks. Other insects may not be detrimental to your health but can also do damage to your property. Before they invade your home and spread diseases, know where to find them, take necessary steps to eliminate them and eventually enjoy a pest-free home living.
Just like any creature, insects have a rightful place in our world. But definitely, your home should not be their haven. Unfortunately, they crawl into properties, multiply into a thousandfold in months, pose health threats and, little by little, day by day, may cause destruction of property. Good thing though is you can stop and exterminate them. The sooner you can the safer you and your family will be.
The first thing to do is to determine where to find these uninvited guests. Some may be quite visible like flies and bugs but at times you really are clueless where their home base is. You might slay one, two or several all of them with your bare hands, cleaning tools or insecticides. But, you are just barely hitting the entire population. The best thing to do is to find where they live. By then, you can perform solutions or seek expert help to wipe them. Here are different house pests, where to find them and how to exterminate them.
Termites
Perhaps, termites are the most difficult to notice. They don’t usually go crawling around your house. Stealth is their primary weapon and they linger where your naked eyes won’t see them. You might never know but they are already having a buffet dinner on your wooden materials under the floor, behind the walls or at the back of the ceiling.
At first, you may be frustrated to know their exact location. If you can only use GPS to track them down, it would be a walk in the park. But, it’s harder in reality. Good thing though that there are signs you can check if termites are slowly building their empire of mounds inside your home.
One clue is droppings resembling sawdust or coffee grounds. Termites adore wood and just like us they poop but in the form of pellets. Another evidence you should not ignore is hollowed or damaged. Obviously, the strength of your wood has already been devoured by termites. As such, you can hear a hollow sound if you step or knock on certain parts. Also, discarded wings on access points indicate the presence of these invaders. If any of these exist, you can call for professional help to eliminate termites.
Mosquitoes
One thing to describe them is deadly. They bring illnesses, like dengue and malaria, that can be fatal with just one bite to anyone. All mosquitoes, regardless of species type, need water for reproduction purposes. You can say they are water-based so you can expect to find them on water sources including unused wheels, drums or buckets, and gutters. Don’t wait for these vampire-like insects to start sucking blood from your family member. Immediately identify standing water sources, remove water and clean these containers. For gutters, you may schedule an annual gutter inspection. For clogged ones, ask away outside help.
Cockroaches
A common household pest is a cockroach. It’s probably one of any girl’s fears, apart from it as a carrier of different diseases. You can’t slap one cockroach with your slipper expecting it’s the end of your stress. The only way to eliminate its group is to eliminate the nest. But, it’s easier said than done especially that it’s difficult to identify where these pests live. There are pieces of evidence though that can lead to a roach’s house. One direction that can point you is cast skin, egg cases, and dark spots or smears. Also, cockroaches flock to where the food and water source is. You can expect them beside the fridge, kitchen cabinets, trash bins, and boxes.
It’s going to be a daunting task to eliminate the pests that have been pestering you and your family for years. By identifying where they nest, you can get rid of these insects and the dangers they pose to you, your family and your property.
