A winter weekend away is a great idea, right?
Breaking out of a regime, escaping into the countryside or off to a big city can be just what you need to forget the every day and relax like a champ. That is if you pack your bag right. Taking a winter break can instantly be ruined if you leave your men’s winter coats at home and spend the next 3 or 4 days shivering and wishing you hadn’t bothered.
So, to help you out and make sure that your winter holiday is a huge success here is a general guide of everything you need to pack before you jet off.
Winter Coats
Men’s winter coats are (after boxers and briefs) the most basic essential for your weekend away.
Whether you are the proud owner of a parka, overcoat, or any other type of winter coats for men, now is the time to put it on and zip it up. A big winter coat has the advantage of going with nearly every outfit of the season and will keep the cold out – meaning you don’t have to spend the whole of your holiday under the duvet in your hotel.
It is probably best to travel in your winter coat, leaving your case free for other essentials. If you’re really struggling for space, you can even give rolling t-shirts with the military method a go.
Sweaters and Jumpers
Another benefit of men’s winter coats, is that they fit perfectly over men’s jumpers and sweaters, which are also essential during this packing process.
If you’re planning on doing any amount of exploring during your vacation, you need to be sure that your outfits are up to the test. A good selection of knitwear, in varying thicknesses, will ensure that you are ready for whatever the weather throws at you. These should make up the bulk of your packing and paired with a sturdy pair of men’s stretch jeans you are free to do as much (or as little) as you want with your time away.
Socks
Since you are on your feet all day, it is important to dress them right.
Chances are that you will only be taking one pair of shoes (which ideally will be a durable pair of boots) and think that any thought into footwear stops there, right? Wrong.
Socks will play a major part in keeping your feet warm and hopefully stop any blisters or chafing if you’re going to be on your feet all day.
Packing a few extra socks is a smart move for your winter weekend away, better to be safe than sorry.
Chapstick
Going on holiday is the best excuse for a new Instagram photo, and do you really want to ruin this by cracking your lips open when you smile? Aside from being incredibly painful, it isn’t a good look.
You can easily avoid this rookie mistake with something as simple as chapstick. While this may not be important on your summer travel checklist, in winter it is one of man’s greatest tools. Be sure to have this on hand at all times, and you can continue to flash your smile left, right and centre.
Travel Plugs
Sure you could buy travel plugs abroad, but for convenience sake (and the sake of your wallet) it is much easier to get one before you go.
Doing this means you can get off of the plane, crash into your hotel and put your phone on charge straight away. You’re going to need google maps, after all.
There you have it! As long as you have all of these, your passport, your wallet, and your phone, everything else is a bonus. Get out there and conquer the world.
