This morning, I woke with an awareness of my intention. In the dim dawn, I felt an unfolding intention to enjoy the day, which I liked. I watched the feeling of openness to the approaching sun and possibilities.
While noticing the sweet power of this intention in my body, how relaxing and enjoyable it was, the Latin word tendo came in my mind. I remembered the meaning of the word as holding, and observed that I was holding the day with an expectation of good. This was nice. It all seemed so simple
Like you, I spend my days absorbed in life’s experiences and lessons, sorting through perceptions, thoughts and feelings in an effort to be happy in the moment. This moment was exactly that. Clearly my intention, my holding of the day with an expectation of good felt peaceful, happy.
I realized that what we expect is a form of holding within us. In the unfolding mystery that we are and the world is, this power is everywhere we go, always there. What we hold within us we expect to see out in the world. What we see out in the world is filtered through what we hold within.
What we hold within us becomes our experience. Our perceptions, emotions, bodies, and thoughts grow out of our intention.
What I hold within myself can be a conscious choice. This process can be called affirmation. When we affirm, we strengthen. We can affirm positive or negative. Either will easily and gladly become the experience of our intention.
So my intention and affirmation of that intention is this: I choose health, wealth and benevolence, and will use them as my internal and external guidance today. What is your intention?
