For some people, bathrooms have become their politics.

I wonder if maybe we protested an actual worthy cause, we might make an impact on the real problems facing our country.

It’s amazing the lengths some people go to protest a company’s policy. What’s even more amazing is when people follow these protests based on popular hype and scare tactics without actually thinking about what the company is saying and doing. As a parent, I totally understand that we don’t want to create opportunities for criminals to exploit. But that’s not what Target is doing, and definitely not what they’re saying. Here’s 7 reasons parents should not boycott Target.
1: Target doesn’t turn its back on family, whether it’s team members, guests, or the community. Target has an inclusive policy to accept everyone.
2: Do you honestly think a criminal, who’s willing to abduct or assault someone, is going to obey a bathroom policy?
3: Every Target I’ve been to has a 3rd family bathroom where a single user can go privately. If you feel like your life is in danger, you’re more than welcome to use this bathroom. Surprisingly, this family bathroom is never mentioned on the pro-boycott news articles and publications.
4: Target understands that when you have a huge company, you have large employee diversity. Allowing your employees to feel comfortable with who they are leads to better performance and employee retention. You don’t want to alienate part of your family.
5: In all practicality, how do you even enforce a separate bathroom policy? Is there going to be bathroom police checking your pants to make sure you have the appropriate equipment before you enter?
6: Target has donated millions of dollars to schools and charities and Target team members have contributed hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours to the local community.
7: Don’t we all have better things to worry about than what a company’s bathroom policies are, especially if we have other alternatives if we don’t feel safe?

I wonder if maybe we protested an actual worthy cause, we might make an impact on the real problems facing our country. Maybe I’ll have more time to think about that as I enjoy my popcorn at my favorite Target store.

So how many guys do you know who just do the same things that you do? This is an important question to ask in any new workplace. How many other people do we know who are like, Oh, it’s not a big deal right now? Is this a big deal? Why does it matter?
Solid reasons to not boycott Target
I can’t wait to take some “selfies” in the target bathroom…mwhahha (or dressing room)
If Target has urinals they should rethink the bathroom policy otherwise I wouldn”t have a problem with it if everything were stalls.
What a useless article. Lets debunk the 7 reasons. *. Target doesn’t turn its back on family, whether it’s team members, guests, or the community. Target has an inclusive policy to accept everyone. That’s wonderful! We’re so happy that Target is so progressive and awesome and stuff. Target is a corporation. This isn’t your mom and dad running the shop. Don’t think for a second that your job would survive if someone in the accounting department decided you were no longer a viable asset. *. Do you honestly think a criminal, who’s willing to abduct or assault someone, is going… Read more »
Amazing!
what a joke this article and website is…. everything that is wrong with our culture today is represented here — no boundaries, no accountability, everyone should do whatever they want regardless of the impact on others… wanting something is reason enough…. Tom, Noah.. spot on… Target may have had an ‘accept everyone’ policy for years but happily going into any bathroom was not an accepted or nor policy-driven norm. F-em. I don’t care what people do with or to each other and themselves but have the GRACE and COMMON DECENCY to keep it to yourself and not INFLICT yourself upon… Read more »
“7: Don’t we all have better things to worry about than what a company’s bathroom policies are, especially if we have other alternatives if we don’t feel safe?” Exactly! Why did Target feel that it was necessary to jump in and pander to the PC crowd when there wasn’t any problem with the way things were before? They, and other businesses, should butt out of politics. It’s very easy to stop doing business with those who insist on pushing a political agenda.
Target has had this policy to accept everyone for years. They are not pandering to politics but simply letting everyone know where they have always stood, now that it’s being debated in the U.S.
One reason why they should boycott … they have the right to.
You have the right to be racist, Tom. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you “should”
