Democrats walked away with more cash reserves than their GOP counterparts overall, especially where Dem incumbents will defend against Republican challengers. In West Virginia, Republican Attorney General Patrick Morrisey burned through most of his cash reserves beating controversial candidate Don Blankenship, while incumbent Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin maintains $5.3 million in cash reserves. Democrats running for the Senate in Ohio and Indiana saw the same story play out. Meanwhile, one incumbent House Republican suffered a serious defeat. Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-N.C.) was felled by conservative pastor Mark Harris. Harris will now face Democrat Dan McCready, a well-funded Iraq vet, in November. It looks as though Republicans face an uphill battle to hold on to Congress, and social media users are betting against them. The Dems’ primary performance gets 93 percent positive opinions vs. 46 percent positives for Republicans. –Hugo Guzman
