The NBA career of Lonzo Ball got off to a miserable start earlier this year. The rookie point guard shot just 31 percent — including 25 percent from three-point range –through his first 20 games with the Los Angeles Lakers. As the second overall draft pick in a loaded class, Ball was already facing murmurs about being a bust. He has since dealt with a couple of nagging injuries and appears to have turned a corner in the last 20 games he’s played. Ball is shooting a much more respectable 43 percent from the floor and 41 percent from deep. He’s looked especially spry in his four most recent contests, all of which have been Los Angeles victories, averaging 12 points, 7.3 assists, and 2.5 steals while making an absurd 64 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. At 28-34, the Lakers are all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but they are at least showing signs of life, already eclipsing individual win totals from each of the last four seasons. With Ball as part of the team’s future core, a return to the postseason could come sooner than later. Over the past three days, “Lonzo Ball” has a 60 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
