Last week one such encounter ended in a fatality after a demonstrator, alleged to be an alt-right supporter, rammed his car into a group of anti-fascist counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Va. In the wake of the attack, anyone remotely associated with the alt-right has been receiving non-stop hostility from Social. That extends to President Donald Trump’s inner circle, where adviser Steve Bannon finds himself under fire for his connections to the amorphous group (which includes white supremacists and neo-Nazis), and his role in fanning its flames when he was running the far-right website Breitbart. Social is almost universally disapproving of Bannon, giving him 97 percent negatives and blaming him for prodding the alt-right into violence. That rating isn’t likely to improve any time soon given Bannon’s comments about Charlottesville in the days after the fatal rally. According to Axios, Bannon is proud of Trump’s fiery response on Tuesday– when the President insisted there were bad and good people on both sides of the Charlottesville melee — and has said that the Trump Tower press conference will define his presidency. –Hugo Guzman
