Spontaneous Mom

I’m a mom of two daughters, Lili, 3 and Rose, 5; and a wife to Vincent, who’s a mechanical engineer working on flight simulators. Although I earned a master’s degree in psychology, I decided to become the primary caregiver for our family. I also work part-time as a blogger at Lazy Moms, where I write about parenting and motherhood and encourage moms to embrace their imperfections, and enjoy everyday life with their kids. I’m interested in all that’s human nature, behavior, and culture. I love photography, baking, interior design, and travel.

Far from perfection and not trying to have it all. – Joanna Grzeszczak

What I do well as a mom.

I do a good job too encourage my children to use their imagination and creativity through play and other activities. I hope to teach them tolerance and compassion for others.

What I learned from another mom.

Be more patient and take kids less seriously when they whine. Repeat to yourself, “It’ll all pass, smile and go on.” Keep a positive attitude and the kids’ meltdowns become funny instead of overwhelming.

Lesson learned from my child.

To listen better. “Listen to me mom,” my four year old said once after her tantrum. She helped me realize that most of the time when she has a meltdown, she’d like to feel that I listened to her.

Successful motherhood moment.

I spend time teaching my children a second and third language, French and Polish. Lili caught on quickly with both languages. My youngest, Rose, however, struggled with Polish. One day Lili invited Rose to listen to her read a book in Polish.

Mom I admire.

My neighbor, Catherine. She is a mom of three boys under age four. I really admire the way she always reacts with a smile and calm voice to any of her kids when they are misbehaving, having a temper tantrum or crying. She ‘s also the type of mom who encourages independent play, even if that involves getting dirty and muddy! I love that she encourages me to let my kids explore nature more, and sometimes dirt, too!
