How Can Your Small Business Make a Big Impact in Your Community?

business manWe’ll bet there’s a cause you can support that makes you feel good and broadcasts your brand.

The amazing thing about small businesses is their ability to drastically change the community that they are a part of.

Showing support for a cause you and your company are passionate about also gives the general public a better idea of what your business does.

Small businesses account for over half of America’s business owners and employees and there is typically a strong sense of trust within the community. What can you do to unite your employees and your business to raise awareness about an issue in your community?

Think About Cause Marketing

Let’s first take the opportunity to delve a little deeper into what “cause marketing” actually means. As a for-profit business, you might pair up with a non-profit organization in order to build fortitude behind a cause you and your small business care about. This also gives you the ability to raise more awareness about a good cause as well as your brand. Showing support for a cause you and your company are passionate about also gives the general public a better idea of what your business does.

Find a Cause!

You may find that as the owner of a small business, you have very little free time. A great way to work with this is to find a cause that you’re both passionate about and that also meshes well with the idea behind your business. Is there a cause you can think of that compliments your business? Talk with your team to seek out a cause everyone is passionate about and to brainstorm what’s really needed in your community.

Encourage Your Team

This is an area where your leadership skills come into play and you have the opportunity to really shine in that role. As a small business owner, the rest of your team will really look to you for guidance. From hosting a walk to helping build an animal shelter, get your team excited about whatever it is that you’re doing. If you’ve included them in the whole process thus far, getting them pumped up probably won’t be too hard to do. You might have t-shirts made for the entire team, or maybe you all get together for a big meal to discuss plans.

Get the Word Out

With the influx of social media, small business owners are given the perfect opportunity to let their ideas be known. Make sure you also include or tag whatever organization you’re pairing up with on social media for the extra publicity and reach!

When your small business takes the time and initiative to back a cause that you and your team are passionate about, your community is strengthened. In turn, resilience within your community can also mean local business growth and prosperity.
