When it comes to having children, Society’s support systems revolve around women … men are an adjunct at best and are expected to handle any and all of their issues privately. Learned that one when we went thru five miscarriages, D & C’s and a myomectomy between first and second kids. We were damn lucky that 3/4’s of the months we tried. She caught even at age 40. Doctor couldn’t believe that luck. I called a stop after #2 – too much pain involved to try for #3 … I was expected to be supportive, reliable, loving, warm and somehow untouched by all of it … Pulled it off at huge personal emotional cost …. and NO Support anywhere.
