The bipartisan agreement settled on $300 billion in new spending and $91 billion in disaster aid. The deal is in positive territory on Social, with 58 percent of sentiments happy with the results. But it almost didn’t happen because of maverick libertarian Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). He broke with Republicans and attempted to block the bill, demanding that government spending get reined in and warning that the legislation would make the looming federal deficit even worse. But President Donald Trump, while agreeing with Paul, was unmoved and signed the bill anyway. According to Trump, sometimes deals just have to work. “Without more Republicans in Congress, we were forced to increase spending on things we do not like or want in order to finally, after many years of depletion, take care of our Military,” Trump tweeted. “Sadly, we needed some Dem votes for passage. Must elect more Republicans in 2018 Election!” –Hugo Guzman
