Dershowitz caused a furor after penning a column for The Hill in which he described “McCarthy-like shunning tactics” from friends and neighbors on Martha’s Vineyard. According to Dershowitz, he has seen social abuse because of his questioning of the Special Counsel investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion by Donald Trump’s campaign. Social media users think that Dershowitz needs to grow thicker skin, however. His comments have earned 70 percent negative opinions, with onliners suggesting Dershowitz should quit “whining” about the consequences of backing Trump. Dershowitz told The New York Times that his comments should not be seen as whining. “The thing I hate most is people who want to shut off conversation,” he told reporter Jeremy Peters last week. “I’m enjoying this… For me, it’s a red badge of courage.” –Hugo Guzman
