A “drag queen disco” protest outside of a New Zealand church was such a big hit that even some members of the congregation honked their horn in support.
Event organizer Wayne Baker told NZ Herald that the LGBT community “wasn’t going to tolerate hatred.”
Protesters waved signs and flags while dancing to songs like The Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.” and “Groove Is in the Heart” by Deee-Lite.
Baker said that the protest was a success and added that members of the church honking in support shows that not everyone who attends thinks the same way as Bishop Tamaki.
“It just goes to show the views of Brian Tamaki are the views of Brian Tamaki,” he concluded.
Watch the protest in the video below, which is admittedly short on drag queens from the footage we can see here. But they still seem to be having one hell of an earth-shakingly good time.
