God can’t vote, but those who claim to hear him can. Is he saying: Trump for President?

For years, I’ve heard church-goers say: “God works in mysterious ways.”
And while I understood why that was said—“for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” God said in the Bible—it isn’t until now that I find myself completely mystified by the rationale of the omnipresent being that the good book—which is said to be written by men inspired by the Holy Ghost—references.
The God of the Bible to which many high-profile pastors in late September prayed to for a strong African-American to accompany Mr. Donald Trump on the campaign trail had appeared to answer the prayers before they were uttered.
In early September—weeks prior to Mr. Trump standing in a boardroom with his hands gripping a bible and surrounded by numerous televangelists and members of the clergy—an Ohio pastor, Mr. Darrell Scott, said at an Atlanta rally that Mr. Trump has been called “for such a time as this.”
I heard that phrase once before as a teenager. A pastor was explaining how and why Mr. George W. Bush was anointed and appointed “for such a time as this.”
I’m not sure what the “such a time” context was back then, but today, heading into 2016, America is potentially facing a race war on the homeland and, in the foreign lands to which our country is an ally, a world war, which requires, at the very least, a leader with grace, diplomacy, tolerance, compassion, empathy for the disenfranchised and understanding of foreign policies, none of which Mr. Trump has showcased in the same manner he has his bravado and flagrant machismo.
That being a fact, I, again, am mystified by why so many pastors—on Monday, November 30th, 2015, Mr. Trump will meet with a coalition of black clergy who want to hear him out, though he’s said plenty and none of it substantive—would risk their reputations to stand with an embattled man who almost every day does or says something that either denigrates or alienates someone or some group or class of people.
Now, to be fair, Mr. Trump is a brilliant entertainer in my opinion, and I have watched nearly every series of ‘The Apprentice’ that aired. And his entrance as a Presidential candidate was, at first, pretty damn entertaining, but the act, for me, has grown old, and countless others share my sentiment.
But it seems for as many who share my view, there’s more who oppose it, finding Mr. Trump to be a breath of fresh air; a maverick who f*cks political correctness in the mouth while posing for a camera.
He’s a ratings machine, a legitimate celebrity and that, I must imagine, is what both voters and pulpiteers are drawn to.
But how long will this show—Mr. Trump may be a genuine candidate, but his actions are linked to a disingenuous strategy to utilize the media to maximize his profile at the expense of a regarded political process—go on for?
Pulpiteers have an immeasurable influence over their parishioners and their support for Mr. Trump could be disastrous, as it would result, more than likely, in congregants en masse following suit, forcing the mainstream media—not that they need any motivation—to continue to cover Mr. Trump at the expense of more qualified and dignified candidates.
But Mr. Trump as a Republican front-runner and potentially the next President of the United States may be all a part of God’s plan for the country. Maybe the faith leaders who laid hands on Mr. Trump, and the Ohio pastor who organized tomorrow’s telecast with the black clergy, know something the rest of us doesn’t.
Maybe God really did speak to them and said Mr. Trump, who clearly has a Messiah complex, is the man for the job, the noted repairer of the breach which the Bible speaks of.
It could also be possible that the clergy who were praying for Mr. Trump and admonishing his humility and boldness are full of sh*t and just want access to a celebrity in order to raise their profile. It could be that they wouldn’t now the voice of God if harmonized with the cast of Glee in a reprise of ‘Old Man River.’
But who am I to judge, I’m just a mere voter, not someone high-up in the ranks of the faith world. There has to be, though, individuals in that space, other than the politico’s pulpiteers, who hear the voice of God with clarity. So, to them I ask: Does God really favor Donald Trump for President?
