Last weekend, The New York Times reported that investigators for Robert Mueller, the special counsel assigned to look into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, were also examining contacts between Trump associates and other foreign entities. One such example involves Trump Jr., who apparently sat down with Erik Prince, the former head of military-contractor firm Blackwater (now known as Academi) and also the brother of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos; Joel Zamel, an Israeli man who specializes in “social media manipulation”; and George Nader, a shadowy political operative and convicted pedophile who has connections to Saudi Arabian elites. The members of that meet-up have denied any funny business went down, but Nader is said to have told Junior that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were very interested in a Trump presidency, and Zamel allegedly touted his company’s abilities to help Team Trump (even though it’s against the law for foreign entities to assist political campaigns). The elder Trump of course had something to say on Twitter, writing the following with an inexplicable apostrophe thrown in: “The Witch Hunt finds no Collusion with Russia – so now they’re looking at the rest of the World. Oh’ great!” Over the past 30 days, “Trump Jr.” has a 29 percent positive score on Twitter. –Alex Shultz
