But in her quest for votes, Mund missed a key constituency, one that was won over by Miss Texas Margana Wood. Social is voting for Wood after she was asked about Trump’s response to August’s deadly protests in Charlottesville, Va., which resulted in one death and dozens of injuries. Miss Texas didn’t hold back when it came to her feelings about the entire affair. “I think that the white supremacist issue, it was very obvious that it was a terrorist attack,” she said. “And I think that President Donald Trump should’ve made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country. That is the No. 1 issue right now.” Her response has since gone viral and is trending at 76 percent positive on Social. Wood, a University of Texas grad, made inclusion a key part of her Miss America platform, though presumably inclusion doesn’t include white supremacists. –Hugo Guzman

I didn’t see terrorist mentioned once. I saw “senseless violence” condemned, but this violence was not “senseless” in that it served a specific purpose. I didn’t see left wing or progressive violence being blamed although the gunman was a Sanders supporter. Sounds to me like they wanted to wash “their” sides hands of it even though “their” side was the only side to use violence that time.
