But President Trump, in what sometimes seems like his eternal quest to pursue policies that are the polar opposite of his predecessor, signed an executive order this week essentially reaffirming his commitment to keeping the controversial prison open indefinitely. Obama failed to keep his word, but he did stop sending alleged terrorists there, while releasing a number of prisoners and/or returning them to their country of origin. Dozens of detainees remain, however, and some have never been charged. During Trump’s State of the Union, he announced his plan to keep Guantanamo open, suggesting that a new batch of prisoners might be sent there. “Terrorists are not merely criminals,” Trump said. “They are unlawful enemy combatants. And when captured overseas, they should be treated like the terrorists they are.” Human rights groups took issue with Trump’s remarks, and Social’s general opinion of the detention camp is decidedly low: Over the past 30 days, “Guantanamo” has just a 19 percent positive score on 30dB. –Alex Shultz
