Smiling, crying, quiet, curious, anxious, bleeding, bright lights, groaning sounds all blending into our daughter emerging from the darkness of her mother’s secret womb, meeting everyone and everything for the first time.
A year later with birthday cake in her hair, desiring more, more, more, we were all first timers, smiling, grateful, tired, willing.
Laughter, learning, pain, anguish, understanding, defining herself and us in the world she inquired herself away, away.
Her daughters smiling, curious, crabby, brilliant and wonderful populate her life now as we look on curious, loving, drifting into the undivided distance of parents from children.
