The chatter is that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary James Mattis are engineering a graceful exit for three-star Gen. McMaster. Potential replacements are already being talked about, but one prospect has risen above all others: the famously hawkish former UN Ambassador John Bolton, who has said the U.S. should declare war on both North Korea and Iran. Also, as Vox wrote: “[Bolton] was credibly accused of manipulating U.S. intelligence on weapons of mass destruction prior to the Iraq war and of abusive treatment of his subordinates.” On Tuesday, Bolton dropped by the White House for a meeting in the Oval Office with Donald Trump. Social dreads the thought of Bolton having that much pull with the President. He gets 67 percent negatives online, arousing such sentiments as “bloodthirsty” and a “lunatic.” –Hugo Guzman
