And as the 2017-18 NBA season begins this week, the Warriors and Cavs are on course to make it there again. Golden State is coming off a 16-1 playoff run that culminated in an easy 4-1 series victory over Cleveland. The Warriors now have a full slate of games with superstar Kevin Durant in the fold, and they added even more depth in the offseason, scooping up sharpshooters Omri Casspi and Nick Young while also drafting promising rookie big man Jordan Bell. They’ll face competition in the Western Conference from the Houston Rockets, which nabbed point guard Chris Paul, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, which revamped its roster with three stars—Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. The Cavs, meanwhile, traded disgruntled point guard Kyrie Irving to the Celtics but might have even stronger lineup after bringing in Dwyane Wade, Isaiah Thomas, Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder and Jeff Green. While Cleveland will have to fend off Boston and the Washington Wizards, the Eastern Conference doesn’t pose nearly the same threat that the West does for the Warriors. Over the last 14 days, the Warriors have a 62 percent positive score on Social, compared with 58 percent for the Cavs. –Alex Shultz
