But he saved much of his ire for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), who publicly called for Trump to resign from office because the allegations against him “are credible” and “numerous.” His response on Twitter has been roundly condemned for what some see as a crass and inappropriate insinuation. He wrote: “Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!” Reporters at Tuesday’s White House briefing asked Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders about the parenthetical section of Trump’s tweet, to which she responded that it could only be interpreted as sexual innuendo “if your mind is in the gutter.” Gillibrand isn’t backing down from her call for Trump to resign—nor is she ignoring his offensive tweet—saying at a news conference, “I see it as a sexist smear … it’s not going to silence me.” Over the last day, @RealDonaldTrump has just a 29 percent positive score on Social. Meanwhile, @SenGillibrand has a 44 percent score over the same time period. –Alex Shultz
