Biggest Loser of GOP Debate? Media Response

Last night, Donald Trump openly stated he would compel the military to commit war crimes; the media chose to cover his penis jokes.

Anyone who reads me knows I do not support Donald Trump. His attitude towards minorities, women, his political opponents, et al. makes him wholly offensive and ridiculous as a candidate. We are not only embarrassing ourselves here, but we are an international joke, as one of my good friends from Australia likes to remind me.

Last night’s Fox News debate was more of the same. Trump began the night by assuring everyone there was no “problem” with the size of his manhood.

Which is mortifying, and inappropriate, to be sure.

But he went on to say something more consequential by staggering orders of magnitude.

Trump stated unequivocally that not only would he order military personnel to commit war crimes, but that “they won’t refuse. They’re not going to refuse me. Believe me.”

Trump stated unequivocally that not only would he order military personnel to commit war crimes (target and kill the families of terrorists, as well as introduce interrogation torture up to and beyond water boarding), but that they “won’t refuse. They’re not going to refuse me. Believe me.”

Now think about this. Moderator and Fox host Bret Baier had just pointed out that nearly 100 foreign policy experts had signed a letter declaring they would not support Trump, precisely because the actions he would ask of the military are orders they have been trained to refuse.

Like the imbecilic narcissist that he is, Trump doubled down on the point when pressed by Baier. “I’m a leader. I’m a leader. I’ve always been a leader. I’ve never had any problem leading people. If I say it, they’re going to do it. That’s what leadership is all about.”

NO, DONALD. THAT IS NOT WHAT LEADERSHIP IS ALL ABOUT.

Keeping in mind that Trump himself dodged the Vietnam draft on a supposed injury incurred while playing squash (you just can’t make this stuff up), the notion that military women and men who have volunteered to serve in what they believe is the noble purpose and mission of the US military will suddenly bend to the knee of Herr Donald is…

Delusional.

And dangerous.

So you would think that would be the big story. Here we have it, proof positive: Donald Trump is dictator-in-waiting. Instead? Lots of chuckles about the size of his manhood moment.

So you would think that would be the big story. Here we have it, proof positive: Donald Trump is a dictator-in-waiting.

Instead? Lots of fawning Trump-love and chuckling shoulder-shrugs over the surreal penis-size comments. Is that appropriate? Can you believe he said that? I just. I can’t even.

Well you know what, mainstream media? If you refuse to report the threat Donald Trump poses to this country, if you refuse to point your laser focus on his illegal call to have the US military either disobey orders or disobey the law, then you’re as much the problem as are his coddled, inexcusable fans.

And if I sound angry and disgusted, guess what? I am.
