The team lost its Week One matchup to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 21-18, but the relatively close game—and a solid performance at quarterback—offered a glimmer of hope for the NFL’s most downtrodden franchise. DeShone Kizer, a second-round rookie from Notre Dame, won the starting job after a strong preseason and performed admirably against a likely playoff opponent in Pittsburgh. Kizer finished 20-of-30 for 222 yards, with one passing touchdown and an interception while also rushing for a TD. He isn’t even the most prized rookie on the roster. That would be No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett, a defensive end who didn’t make his NFL debut due to an injury. So for now, it’s Kizer’s spotlight to lose as he boasts an 83 percent positive score on Social over the last day. Fellow rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson, meanwhile, has just a 29 percent positive score after his Houston Texans fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 29-7. –Alex Shultz
