As a parent, we have responsibilities to our children and to the society we raise them to live in. We want our children to grow up healthy and with more joys than pains. Usually, that means being able to be a member of society that plays by the culture’s rules. What does that mean in this day in age when the rules change so fast?
Parents:
Tell us how you are raising your children to understand sex, sexuality, sexual orientation, and all the related complexities including birth control and prevention of sexually-transmitted diseases. What about consent and healthy boundaries? What about love and marriage? How about all of the emotions related? What do you discuss and what do you leave unmentioned, and why? What resources have been helpful to you in preparing to talk with them? What mistakes have you made that you can share with other parents before they make the same mistake?
Teachers and other Community Leaders:
How do you feel about your role in teaching this subject to youth? What are the boundaries you are legally required to follow and where would you prefer the boundaries were, instead? What do we as a society—especially those of us who do not have a direct influence on youth— need to know about how children learn about this complex topic? What does it mean in the bigger picture?

The Good Men Project is different from most media companies. We are a “participatory media company”—which means we don’t just have content you read and share and comment on but it means we have multiple ways you can actively be a part of the conversation. As you become a deeper part of the conversation (Which really is “The Conversation No One Else is Having”), you will learn all of the ways we support our Writer’s Community—community FB groups, weekly conference calls, classes in writing, editing platform building and How to Create Social Change.
