Faith is where you find it, and so is the inspiration to keep going.

“It is not good for man to be alone,” says the bible quite early on. (Genesis 2:18) But as a married man I increasingly find that’s when I need to be alone. Alone for a little quiet time, I want to say with god, but very often it’s just me and a wall.
I am a recent convert to the sport of Bouldering which I do indoors at a climbing center. When it’s done properly it’s a real art and seems effortless. When I do it there’s a lot more effort. I do not have the artistry of my fellow climbers, often using brute force to compensate.
My Faith has been so much like my Bouldering. Wanting to get to the top. To be a “Good.Man”.

It’s the challenge of Wall that hooked me, just me standing at the bottom looking up and asking myself, “How do I get up there?” Trying a few times, not making it, but still refusing to give up. Sometimes when all seems lost, someone will come a long and offer you some Beta (information on a route or a hold you missed.)
Now it’s easy once you use that hold or go slightly to the left you’re there at the top, and your climb was so much more smooth.
My Faith has been so much like my Bouldering. Wanting to get to the top. To be a “Good.Man”. I have to admit that I have failed more times than I would like to admit and it is certainly not without effort on my part.
Today once again someone reminded me that there was a hold to grab onto. There was a bloke named Paul and he struggled, but kept faith with Jesus knowing that there is life.
Oh what a miserable person I am!
Who will free me from this life dominated by sin
Thank god—the answer is Jesus Christ
(Romans 7 24-25)
So today I will take that extra foothold and reach for the heavens.
