But for the most part, those allegations had been limited to the entertainment and media worlds, with politics escaping unscathed save for a few California politicos facing scrutiny. That is, until last Thursday when The Washington Post published an article alleging that Alabama’s Republican U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore pursued several under-aged girls when he was an assistant district attorney in his 30s. The story went national, and since then Moore has lost the backing of his party (at least at the national level), with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell demanding Moore step aside. Those revelations have been a windfall for Moore’s Democratic opponent, Doug Jones, a former U.S. Attorney. Jones, who was trailing before the WaPo article, now finds himself four points ahead according to a poll by JMC Analytics, with other polls on RealClearPolitics calling it a toss-up. Jones also finds himself ahead on Social, where he’s at 56 percent positive. –Hugo Guzman
