Donald Trump’s surprise win derailed dreams of a Clinton dynasty, but ironically the embattled Commander-in-Chief could help return an even older family to prominence. Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-Mass.), a scion of the clan that produced President Jack Kennedy, Sen. Bobby Kennedy (a presidential candidate when he was assassinated), and Sen. Ted Kennedy, was tapped to deliver the official Democratic response to Trump’s State of the Union Address. The congressman, a grandson of Bobby Kennedy, used that chance to defend immigrants and rebuke Russia for allegedly involving itself in the 2016 presidential election. His performance is getting a decent response online, with Social 59 percent supportive. And many online are looking beyond Kennedy’s speech to 2020. “Mr. Kennedy — like Justin Trudeau in Canada — is the young blood that the Democrats desperately need,” one New York Times reader wrote to the paper. –Hugo Guzman
