Justin Timberlake: Responsible Employer

Justin Timberlake

JT negotiates union contract for his backup dancers.

First he makes Saturday Night Live funny again, then he turns out to be a fantastic actor, and then he puts out the outstanding 20/20 Experience album. Now Justin Timberlake has arranged a precedent-setting union contract for his backup dancers. I’m officially out of excuses to hate him.

Dave McNary reports in Variety that Timberlake’s 12 dancers will be covered by an agreement that “provides for performer earnings counting toward pension and health benefits eligibility and for direct negotiations with performers.” He continues: “The union noted that the Timberlake deal represents the first time that member performers have successfully organized dancers employed on a specific tour under its touring agreement.”

Good on you, JT.  Thanks for bringing ethics back.
