Trigger warning: The video above shows in graphic detail the results of Domestic Violence and may trigger some people.
Keith Olbermann has always said it like it is. He’s not a guy to pull punches.
But there’s something especially stirring, something devastatingly brutal and honest in the way he called out the most sexist words and terrifying actions of NFL stars.
Let’s hope people are listening.
There seems to be a bit more to this story than is being discussed. “but what everyone seems to overlook is the fact that Janay Palmer, who was intoxicated at the time, actually began beating on Ray Rice and initially was the only one charged in the incident” http://www.brothersonsports.com/whoopi-goldberg-defends-stephen-a-smith-and-his-domestic-violence-statements/ If she did indeed hit him first and many men have been arrested for domestic violence even though they hadn’t even struck their significant others, then I feel that any suspension for essentially defending yourself is excessive. That wouldn’t mean that the NFL didn’t have a domestic violence problem. It just… Read more »
This is probably one of the first of Olbermann’s tirades that makes sense from start to finish. I have to wonder if his fans actually listen to everything he says. It’s an easy task to produce a litany of Olbermann rants against women that are every bit as vicious as the ones he cites. He may call it as he sees it, but he often sees things wrongly, and he is utterly incapable of being respectful of women with whom he disagrees.
What you’re running across is the “cried rape” problem with the law. Even though a false accusation of tape may result in an innocent person spending 10 years in prison, the guilty liar may only face three years because they can only receive whatever punishment there is for perjury or filing a false police report. From what I can tell the maximum penalty for actions detrimental to the team is a four game suspension. There is to my knowledge no separate batter women clause in the collective bargaining agreement so comparing it to drug suspensions and such is senseless unless… Read more »
I Love Keith O. Glad he’s saying what he feels. I wish he had a better platform. But if you piss off Fox News long enough they can send you to the farm leagues for awhile.
Don’t see too many comments on the good men project site about this topic. Olbermann is a good man for saying what he did. The ESPN commentator should be censured for saying that women can cause bad reactions from men. No person could cause a bad response — all responders own their own actions and need to be punished accordingly. When consequences exist behavior changes.
That’s American culture I guess. Is Keith Olbermann American, by the way? Because he is amazing and a type of man I wish i had met when in America. I don’t know too much about American football culture, we don’t have that type of game where I live. But unfortunately that is probably only mirroring the overall extreme sexism and violence against women the whole culture have but in an even more blatant way, for it is a masculine and male-centric and dominated sport. The problem is we can’t even say masculine behavior and culture in America is sexist, misogynist… Read more »
Where are you from Teresa and what are men like there vs your experience in America?
