Scientists have found that a women’s brain is inclined to look for a mate with a good sense of humor, as this is a sound way to judge a man’s genetic suitability as both a lifelong partner and father.

As it turns out, a good joke is nature’s most powerful aphrodisiac. A study from Stanford University’s School of Medicine has revealed that women have evolved to prefer funny men.
Simply put, if you’re wondering why the goofy-looking class clown always dated the most attractive girls in high school, it has to do with genetics.
Scientists found that a women’s brain is inclined to look for a mate with a good sense of humor, as this is a sound way to judge a man’s genetic suitability as both a lifelong partner and father.
Men have responded in kind, and have evolved to become more humorous.
Indeed, a good sense of humor leads to good luck with the ladies. This is something we always knew, but science has now confirmed it. As the famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once stated, “The good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it.”
Yet, just in case we still have any doubters out there, here are 9 reasons why the funny guy will always get the girl:
He will cheer her up whenever she’s sad.
Laughter is the best medicine. On her worst day, he will always know how to make her smile.
As the great poet Robert Frost once stated, “If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane.” Indeed, laughter is the soul’s greatest friend. There is nothing more enriching than laughter shared among loved ones.
He will keep her in good shape.
Laughter is phenomenal exercise. Laughing for 10 to 15 minutes can burn anywhere from 10 to 40 calories. Likewise, the University of Maryland produced a study linking laughter to cardiovascular health. Simply put, it’s good for your heart and your soul.
It’s also a great ab workout, much better than crunches. Getting a cramp from uncontrollable laughter is the sweetest type of pain.
He will make sure that her life stays interesting.
A good joke can make even the most boring situations bearable. Not to mention, laughter can make an awkward moment a distant memory within seconds.
Making an effective joke is all about timing and seizing the moment when it comes, and it necessitates an audacious personality. People with a good sense of humor know what it means to live bold and adventurous lives because they always know how to seize the day.
He will make sure she isn’t the parent doing all of the work.
Kids love a father who will joke around with them. A dad who’s too serious will never want to fool around with his kids. Children deserve a father who can make them laugh. There is no greater joy in the world than a room full of laughing kids.
After all, the funniest people in the world are really just adults who never let go of the child within them.
He will make her feel comfortable in her own skin.
A man with a good sense of humor will accept that women poop and fart, too, because he likes bathroom humor. Everyone poops, it’s true. It’s natural and it’s good to stay regular. Just sayin’.
Simply put, he will never her make her feel uncomfortable about her body. If anything, he’ll help her laugh about the things she hates about it. No one should ever be made to feel ashamed about something that’s natural.
He will be self-aware and better at taking criticism.
A man with a good sense of humor has the ability to make fun of himself, meaning he is self-aware. This is incredibly important for personal growth and interpersonal relations.
It also means that he realizes that he’s not perfect and has room for improvement. Relationships are a lot of work, and both parties have to remain flexible.
He will make her more confident.
Life is full of ups and downs. It’s easy to feel insecure. We will all face hardships and embarrassments.
There’s an old expression for these times, “One day, you’ll look back on this and laugh.” The funny guy will help her find a way to laugh about it.
He will help her appreciate the little things.
The funniest people in the world find humor and joy in the mundane. They laugh about an awkwardly-shaped banana, or revel in the randomness of the various people walking down the street.
It’s a beautiful and dynamic world, and a funny man will help his partner remember that.
He will make her life longer and less painful.
Laughter can help reduce stress. It enhances a person’s intake of oxygen, stimulating vital organs, such as the heart and lungs. Likewise, it releases endorphins, which make us feel good and can help relieve pain.
Not to mention, we live longer when we stress less. Ever wonder why you always feel like watching a funny movie when you’re sad? It’s science.

As long as the guy doesn’t use his humor and jokes when we are talking seriously, as a way to escape the talking… that is all fine. I never look for “funny” traits in a man when it comes to finding a date or a relationship, though. Funny guys (and gals) are a great company, they make great friends and all, but if I can’t find them the least physically attractive (for dating) + they don’t have the same values as me and many views and tastes in common (for relationship)… forget it. I prefer a “boring” guy that matches… Read more »
Yes women like funny in a partner. But if they don’t give you a chance you get to know you so they can understand your sense of humor then it doesn’t matter how funny you are, only how good looking you are or if they feel a ‘spark’ immediately. One of the worst combinations is a funny guy with a serious woman. You just feel like his talent is being wasted.
Funny is relative people; I’ve known guys who annoyed me, but they thought their bad jokes were funny. I just hid from these guys because they were annoying and not funny at a all. I like a easy going, Simple honest guys who naturally say things that make me smile, because they are naturally funny without trying hard. So, if you are not naturally funny just don’t grab a book of jokes and expect every woman to fall for you. Be yourself there are women who also appreciate a man with a more somber personality.
“Always”? Really?
Well, I guess as long as everyone get todefine for themselves what counts as “funny”, no real argument can be made here.
There are different kinds of humour. You will notice that the jokes of the Dalai Lama are not the same as the ones of George Carlin. The points mentioned in this list seem to apply to good-natured, lighthearted, “innocent” fun. That is the kind of humour that is not too much in fashion these days. The one that IS in fashion is wisecracking snarkiness and dark sarcasm. The art of the witty takedown. What that actually is, is pure aggression. The snarky comeback serves to demonstrate that you do not let your counterpart dominate you in any way. It shows… Read more »
You’ve made some really good points there. Most of the funny guys have a very beautiful and attractive partner. I think being too serious among guys is not included in the qualifications of a woman.
Because a woman’s appearance is her only important thing, obviously. Who would want a very intelligent, sweet and kind but “average” woman/partner… not a man.
Don’t try to trick us and say “beautiful” or “attractive” is all about or can also be about personality/character… that is a boring excuse, and we know men are not thinking about that when mentioning it.
Not all men were after the physical beauty. I know a lot of men who consider to have an average girl rather that being so beautiful. They rather want to have a simple girl with a good character.
female validation, it’s what’s important.
