This week’s Man Alive conversation moved me to tears.
I have collaborated with and been personally supported by many incredible men. But talking with Ray Arata, founder of The Better Man Conference, I realized I still hold an old belief that men won’t value me (or other women) or want to support our success.
I still hold an old belief that men think they will succeed more and faster without women’s contribution.
I asked Ray whether he thought men would listen to an episode about gender inclusivity and what he thought would motivate them to do so.
While you may have these old thoughts, as I do, I imagine you also see a bigger picture — women you respect, and even love, contributing to your life, work, health and wealth in powerful ways.
As we spoke I was moved by Ray’s vision for men and women both, to lead and live from the heart, more vulnerably and collaboratively.
We talked about surprising ways men can feel more powerful, engaged, successful AND support the women in their lives—wives, daughters, sisters, mothers, friends, and colleagues.
Ray is an incredible example of a man who has faced life’s challenges head-on and discovered how to awaken men, not only to your potential but your happiness!

In this episode, Shana and Ray talk about how misunderstood confidence is and what many men miss in their attempt to be confident.
Even men at the top of their game find themselves wanting more from life. Man Alive is the resource for men who want more meaning, a bigger impact, unshakable confidence, a hotter sex life, more money, deeper love, solid friendships or a powerful legacy.
In this episode we cover…
- How to grow and evolve into the man you want to be, without being driven by other’s expectations or shame
- What you stand to gain from gender inclusion and supporting women in your life
- How to handle vulnerability, even in a corporate context
- One surprising thing you can do that makes men trust you more
- The benefits of starting to live and lead with your heart open
