Originally their goal was $5,000, now they are close to $35,000 for Oren and his family.

A group of Dad Bloggers on Facebook have set up a donation site for Dad Oren Miller, a fellow blogger who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Here’s what they have to say on his fundraising page:
“We, his friends, family and fellow dad bloggers, want to give back to Oren Miller and his family a portion of all he’s given us.
On May 30, our friend Oren Miller was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. This devastating disease carries an average life expectancy of 1 year. While we are diligently hopeful for more, we want to ensure Oren and Beth get help with medical bills, are able to put away money for Liam and Madeline, and get some awesome family time together. We want to show our gratitude and give back just a small portion of the friendship and support we’ve gained because of and from him.
We love you, Oren! Please read Oren’s own words about his cancer and about living life to the fullest.
PS: This fundraiser was originally just for a vacation, with a goal of $5,000. In less than 12 hours, we surpassed that goal. Please continue to give, share and send your prayers and healing thoughts.”

Oren’s post on his cancer begins with these words:
“On Friday, 5/30/14, I found out I had a Stage 4 lung cancer. People in my condition have about a year to live on average, and treatment is now limited to making the next year more bearable. There are other options that may be discussed later, including experimental treatments, and I’m staying optimistic, but frankly, I think I know where I stand.

Our family and some friends were building sand castles, going in and out of the water, and just relaxing in general–everyone except anxious old me. I had hundreds of unread emails and dozens of ideas for blog posts I didn’t have time to write, and I was surrounded by too much sand and not enough coffee. I tried to pretend I was having a good time, but people could see I was out of my comfort zone, and worse, that I didn’t want to be there.
It was only on the drive back home that I had the epiphany. It was only on the drive back that I realized what I had been missing out on. It was only on the drive back that I realized I had been experiencing the biggest tragedy of human existence: I was having the time of my life, and I didn’t even know it.”See the entire post here: http://www.bloggerfather.com/2014/06/cancer.html
