Conyers, who has been in the House since 1965 and was called an “icon” by Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Sunday, has been accused of harassment and sexual misconduct by two former staffers, according to The Detroit Times. And last week, the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into those allegations. Conyers has denied wrongdoing — but not a payment to one of his accusers — and has announced that he is stepping down from his role as Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee. But the damage may already be done, at least on social media. Conyers is at 86 percent negative, just below his age of 88, and many users are suggesting that it’s time for the octogenarian lawmaker to retire. –Hugo Guzman
