Indictments of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates were made public, though the charges – including failing to register as a foreign agent and tax fraud — were not directly related to the race for the White House. Perhaps more important was the revelation of a guilty plea by former Trump campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, who admitted to lying to the FBI about contacts with Russian operatives. But while Special Counsel Mueller may not be getting much support from Social, with just 33 percent positives and sentiments that include “disgraceful” and “dangerous,” that is a lot better than he was doing before Monday. President Trump has suggested that the investigation is a “witch hunt” and has accused Republicans in Congress of not having his back. Despite Trump’s ire, “Mr. Mueller has made it so that it would be political suicide for the president to fire him,” national security lawyer Bradley Moss told The Hill on Tuesday. On the other hand, the threat of political suicide has not stopped Trump before. –Hugo Guzman
