The big winter event in the USA in 2017, will not be the Million Women March. It will not be the inauguration of Donald Trump as President. It will be the Super Bowl of course. The Super Bowl continues as the World Wide distractor-in-chief from what is really going on in the World.
Team sports continue to play a vital role in giving Americans a metaphor for the working of the Federal Government. Many Americans believe that the President Of The United States is like a quarterback of Team USA. The most important player on the team. The man who calls the plays. The man who is primarily responsible for their execution.
Team USA has its offensive, defensive, and special team units. It has it’s coaching staff, communication systems, data analysts, salary cap jugglers, dirty trick coordinators and secret keepers. Many believe that the units work together to compete for victory against the opposing team, say, Team Russia.
Devoted football fans like to drill down on the personalities and performance records of their favorite team players, just like many like to do with the next President Of The United States of America. Such sport involves making predictions as to who is going to win the Big Game.
Problem is, Federal Government Team USA, doesn’t work like your favorite professional football team. You might think that the units of the executive branch of the Federal Government are all on the same side, but they aren’t. Not even close. FBI, CIA, State Department, Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, etc. all have factions that can be at cross purposes to each other. These factions don’t wear different colored jersey’s. Most of their names you have never heard of. What they do in their positions you haven’t a clue or the time to care. Therefore, you probably aren’t even close to knowing what some people in these positions do, that it’s not what they are supposed to be doing.
It is just ridiculous to think that our nation’s quarterback has the power to make the big plays and assure their execution.
It is the people whose position of power, puts them in the position to be focused on power. These people have the means to access more stuff and entertainment than they know what to do with, so what they do is keep sharpening and sustaining their means of being powerful.
Most people want power as the means to several ends. These ends are mostly being able to respond to adversity, to protect self and family, and have a little fun. Those in power only want more power. Their fun is witnessing the effects of their power. Such a position is very difficult to compete with.
Watching how the powerful work is far more entertaining than the Super Bowl. If enough people seek such entertainment, more may want to change how the game is played.
Remember that these people sing anthems only to themselves, their families and a few associates. They watch us glued to our screens viewing entertainments and laugh.
The Team USA unit that is the most difficult to watch is the CIA. If you could see what some of them do, you wouldn’t be able to stomach it, but don’t worry, they are good at seeing that you don’t see.
The CIA is full of people who are focused on keeping secrets and destabilizing governments, by whatever means necessary, and it’s fun for the powerful to watch. Some of the biggest secrets are how some in the CIA gain from playing against the Team they are supposed to be working for.
Chances are, you know as much or more about this stuff than I do. I’m still trying to figure out why letting some air out of footballs, in order to get a better grip when it’s rainy, is against the rules.
Much of recorded history is comprised of coded information, like the signals barked out by quarterbacks. To win is to keep secrets and learn the secrets of your opposition without them knowing about it. In recent times, the secret communications of the powerful have been revealed to the masses. The masses still don’t want to know what they now know. They don’t want to know, that they know there is little they can do about what they now know.
The most provocative evolutionary question is will the good of Alpha males ever be replaced by the good of everybody else and if so how?
How is that for a topic of discussion at halftime or would you rather catch a few more commercials and enjoy Lady Gaga?
