White supremacists dominate one part of the extreme political spectrum, having rallied under the banner of the “Alt-Right” and scheduling regular marches to protest the removal of monuments to Civil War generals. On the other end there’s the Antifa, the loosely organized anti-fascist network that has made it its mission to confront the “Alt-Right” at its marches and stage counter protests. It’s not uncommon for these protests and counter-protests to devolve into brawls, and both have seen their support online dwindle after the violent confrontations. Now it’s a race to the bottom between Antifa and the white supremacists, with Antifa at a scant 23 percent Social approval rating, and white supremacists registering about the same at 24 percent. Still, the fact that sentiments are even that high is a testament to the social media prowess of the two groups. They’ve both been the subject of relentlessly negative coverage since the Charlottesville (Va.) rally earlier this month, which claimed a life. –Hugo Guzman
