Activists organized to send a clear message to Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau while visiting Washington D.C. on Monday. The Facebook event reads as follows:
“Trudeau has said he will ‘work with’ the Trump administration to build the Keystone Pipeline.
JOIN US at the Canadian Embassy in D.C. on Monday at 5:30pm to show Trudeau that we won’t accept this — climate leaders don’t build pipelines!
We need champions of climate action who refuse to side with the fossil fuel industry and Donald Trump’s climate-denial agenda. In supporting Keystone XL and wanting to ‘work with”Trump, Trudeau has chosen to side against our future.
We’re asking Trudeau: Whose side are you on?
With Trump and the fossil fuel industry?
OR
With the people, our future, and the climate?
Trump has shown he is determined to build Keystone XL, Dakota Access, and every new pipeline that comes his way. PM Trudeau has revealed himself to be yet another ally of the fossil industry by supporting Keystone XL, the Kinder Morgan Pipeline, and Enbridge tar sands pipelines in Canada.
JOIN US as we show Trump and Trudeau that we will resist their dirty partnership until Trudeau chooses to side with the people — not Trump and his fossil fuel cronies.
Attendees tweeted from the event:
