The Los Angeles Dodgers (104-58) had the best record in baseball in 2017, and looked for a moment like they might compete for the best winning percentage of all time. That was ruined by a strange 5-20 stretch from late August through most of September, but Los Angeles has regained its mojo in the playoffs. The Dodgers easily swept the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Division Series, then took down the defending champion Chicago Cubs in five games, including an 11-1 shellacking in the deciding game five. In the American League, the Houston Astros achieved 101 wins, their second-highest mark in franchise history. Houston surpassed the Boston Red Sox in four games in the American League Division Series, then nearly blew a 2-0 series edge against the New York Yankees before moving on in seven games. The World Series will involve pitching duels galore, including the opening matchup between Houston’s Dallas Keuchel and Los Angeles’s Clayton Kershaw. Both had sub-3.00 ERAs during the season. As for who’s going to win the whole thing, Social is giving the edge to the Dodgers. Over the last three days, the Dodgers have a 70 percent positive score, while the Astros have a 60 percent score.—Alex Shultz
