The Arizona lawmaker won’t seek reelection next year, so he’s spending his time ripping into President Donald Trump, whom Flake accuses of being a key culprit in the decline of American political discourse. On Wednesday, Flake took to the Senate floor to say as much. “No longer can we compound attacks on truth with our silent acquiescence. No longer can we turn a blind eye or a deaf ear to these assaults on our institutions,” Flake said in his speech. He also compared President Trump to Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin and said that his party was complicit in Trump’s actions. Social probably can’t persuade Flake to stick around past 2018, but that hasn’t stopped social media users from cheering for the senator’s speech. His Wednesday stand against Trump took home 75 percent positive sentiments. –Hugo Guzman
