But one GOP Senator is making serious waves on Social by bucking what is often an embarrassed silence on Capitol Hill and pushing back against Trump’s recent call to revoke the media licenses of “dishonest” journalists. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) released a statement last Wednesday asking Trump if he was recanting his oath to defend the Constitution (and therefore the First Amendment, which guarantees a free press). Sasse is seeing 62 percent positive buzz on Twitter after the statement dropped, although not everyone is a fan. Fox News commentator Sean Hannity called the senator “useless” on Twitter last week and said that supporting Sasse during his Senate run was a huge mistake. Sasse slapped back, accusing Hannity of backing censorship. As of this weekend, their row rages on, with Sasse asking conservatives like Hannity what they’ll do when Trump sets a precedent for censoring the press and a Democratic President follows suit. –Hugo Guzman
