The Trump Administration announced on Friday that an estimated 57,000 Honduran immigrants have two years to leave America or risk deportation once they lose Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Immigrants from nations such as Honduras, El Salvador, and Sudan who have fled civil conflicts and war have lived in the U.S for decades under the TPS program. Now nearly 400,000 of them will be shown the door by 2020, according to Vox. Social is up in arms over the decision, with 84 percent of opinions calling it “unnecessary,” “heartless,” and just plain wrong. Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez agrees: He plans to visit the U.S. and lobby Congress to help the Honduran community. “You aren’t alone,” Hernandez told stateside Honduran consulate leaders on Monday, according to Telesur. –Hugo Guzman
